my vine seems to like my kitchen in san francisco. i hope she likes her new home in berkeley as much.

we love Borat

I don't know about you, but I am super excited to see this movie. With a title like "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan" there won't be any confusing this movie with all of the "The" movies out there. However, there is already a lot of global controversy surrounding it.

THE ANNIVERSARY GIFT...

George was in trouble. He forgot his wedding anniversary, and Judy was really angry. She told him "Tomorrow morning, I expect to find a gift in the driveway that when I step on it, will go from 0 to 200 in less than 6 seconds."

The next morning, George got up early and left for work. When Judy woke up, she looked out the window and sure enough there was a box in the middle of the driveway. Confused, she put on her robe, ran out to the driveway and brought the box back in the house.

She opened it and found a brand new bathroom scale.

A woman was walking along a deserted beach one day when she saw an old bottle. She picked it up and while she was rubbing the sand off, smoke arose from it and a genie appeared. The amazed woman asked if she got three wishes. The genie said, "Nope, sorry, three-wish genies are a storybook myth. I'm a one wish genie. So...what'll it be?"

The woman did not hesitate. She said, "I want peace in the MiddleEast. See this map? I want these countries to stop fighting with each other and I want all the Arabs to love the Jews and Americans and vice-versa. It will bring about world peace and harmony."

The genie looked at the map and exclaimed, "Lady, be reasonable. These countries have been at war for thousands of years. I'm out of shape after being in a bottle for five hundred years. I'm good but not THAT good! I don't think it can be done. Make another wish and please be reasonable."

The woman thought for a minute and said, "Well, I've never been able to find the right man. You know, one that's considerate and fun, likes to cook and help with the house cleaning, is great in bed, gets along with my family, doesn't watch sports all the time, and is faithful. That is what I wish for .. a good man."

The genie sighed and said, "Let me see the freakin map."

today we explored Baldwin Village and Kensington Market during the conference lunch break. then on my own i went to Eaton Centre and after finding the Labyrinth i found PATH, which is an underground walkway of sorts. super neat and i bet super functional during crappy weather. finally, i passed through Dundas Square on my way back up Yonge Street before heading back to the hotel to rest my aching dawgs.

Queen Street and The Annex

We explored a bunch of neighborhoods today. Two cute ones were Queen Street (where we had lunch) and The Annex (where we had dinner) which is near the campus, so a lot of students live there.

The Toronto Music Garden

Along the Harbourfront you can find the Toronto Music Garden. Created by Yo-Yo Ma and some rich family, it is a garden inspired by Bach's Suite No 1 for Unaccompanied Cello. We happened to catch the end of the last "free Sunday summer concert" of the season. The music, and the garden, were truly beautiful.
