My mom comes to visit = presents
My mom arrived in Amsterdam this morning and we're so excited to see her! We were also excited to see the entire suitcase filled with goodies she brought for us. A highlight: our Skype phone! WOO HOO!

Delayed blogging

Valentine's double date dinner in Utrecht
To celebrate this day of love, we decided to go to Utrecht to have dinner with our friends Paola and Peter. Paola served us this amazing 5 course Dutch/French/Italian style meal. We were so full of delicious food and we had so much fun! Thanks again guys!

Dinner with Will
This weekend we have our first visitor, Will. We decided to take him out to Indonesian food for dinner... because that's what you do in Amsterdam when you don't want to eat Dutch food. YUMMERS!
RIP Macbook
Today I said goodbye to my Macbook. Suddenly on Wednesday night my hard drive started making an awful sound, then, my computer wouldn't boot up and all I saw was a blinking folder with a question mark. Basically, my hard drive died. I was told these things just happen. Unfortunately for me I had gotten lazy with backing up my data and had not done so since Thanksgiving. I lost everything on my hard drive... school work and every picture I've taken since we moved to Amsterdam were the biggest losses. When my computer returns (should be in 10 working days) it will have a brand new hard drive. "New soul, same old body," I call it.

Hond in de goot
Dog poop is a real problem in this country. No one picks up after their dog. So, there are signs all around (on the sidewalk) asking people to have their dogs poop in the gutter at least. It doesn't work. There is poop all over the sidewalk anyway.

I had to do something!
The lack of cupcakes in this country is killing me people. So, I decided to make some of my own last night. Yes, that is a shake-n-pour you see in the background. I decided to start basic, but I'm sure the longer we're here the more creative I will have to get because I'll be missing cupcakes like crazy. Next time I'll need to hunt down some frosting too.
