Happy 31st Birthday my love!

As this was going to be Dave's last birthday before he has to share his birth month with his daughter forever, we decided to celebrate BIG. We went to Golfland with our bestest friends and then went out for Chicago style deep dish pizza. Crazy!!!

In all seriousness we had a fabulous time, lots of laughs and delicious food. We love our friends and Dave had a great birthday!

Fondue is FUN!

Tonight we busted out our snazzy electric fondue pot. We got it as a wedding present but didn't use it until now... and it was so awesome!

We mixed Gruyere and Manchego cheeses and dipped bread, apples and broccoli into the cheesy wonderfulness.

Emerson REALLY wanted to try some, but fondue is not for kitties.

United Airlines Family Day at SFO

Today we went to SFO for the annual United Airlines family day. We went in 2008 and had a great time.

This year was an exceptionally exciting year to go because the United/Continental merger recently closed, so we were hoping to see a new United plane with the Continental logo... and we did!

Ellie had a great time checking out the new plane.

And there were even storm troopers there in case anyone got out of line.

We got these cute United backpacks and all sorts of other airline schwag.

He's so happy amongst the planes. :)

It's been 5 years

...since the day we met. Can you believe it!? This picture below was the first one of us together like this that Dave took himself (August 2005). Now we have hundreds like this, as you know. But there is something about this one that really feels like the beginning to me, ya know? Sorry it's so small. I had to pull it from somewhere else because I'm not sure I have the original in digital form anymore.

Anyway, it's been 5 amazing years of adventures, both in our relationship and around the world. And the next five are already lined up to be just as amazing, in a totally different way.

LOVE YOU!!!!

An adequate stand-in???

Last week Dave went to Amsterdam without me. He had a workshop he was running and I was swamped with finals, so I missed out. My friends threw a Cinco de Mayo party and the good ole sombrero made an appearance. I wish I could have been there!

Gifts from Japan

We've already established that I have an amazingly sweet husband. So, of course we are not surprised when he returned from his trip to Japan with some little gifts for me! Of course, he brought back some funny named candy, because everyone knows how much I love treats.

But he also returned with A NEW CAMERA for me!!!! I have a fancy SLR camera that only comes out on special occasions. Normally I carry around a little Canon point-and-shoot camera. Well, as you can imagine, my little camera gets lots of action, and I've had it for many years now, so it has seen better days. Now I've got this awesome new one! Thanks honey. You're the best. :)

Taking over my blog

Because the cats don't have their own blog anymore they might take over mine for awhile... at least until my life gets a little more interesting. Right now the only other pictures I have are of our new furniture... BORING! And cats are so exciting.

Yes, he rode his bike in the snow... he loved it

In the picture above that is my husband riding his bike to the swimming pool so he could go for a swim. He was very excited at the thought of riding in the snow and the thought that the pool would be empty because no one else in their right mind would ride there in the snow.

The picture below is our cute Amsterdam apartment with falling snow. I think it will be the thing I am going to miss 2nd most, after my friends of course, when we leave here at the end of the week.
