False alarm!

I thought I was doing so well, and then I had a "dry socket" scare... or as some of my good friends like to call it, a "dry hole" scare. But, I was wrong. I just didn't stay on top of my pain meds and had a long day returning to work on Tuesday.

I'll have you all know that my "sockets" are doing just fine. And, the doctor said I could eat whatever I want, I just have to be careful and clean out my "sockets" really well.

Dave's 28th Birthday

We ate dinner at a really yummy place in San Francisco tonight called Farallon to celebrate Dave's birthday. My Bug likes fancy places! It's a seafood restaurant that sort of feels like an aquarium inside. We particularly liked the jellyfish light fixtures.

"Ask the Pilot" that?

Dave was reading an awesome article on Salon.com called "Ask the Pilot" and we were extremely entertained by some of the questions. My favorite one is posted below.

Q: I just got back from vacation, and I'm positive that airplanes make me fart more. I fly a lot, and I can definitely say there's a lot more flatulence going on when I'm airborne. Does this have anything to do with pressurization? I've also realized that with so much ambient noise, you can really rip 'em without being heard. Together, these two things lead me to believe that airplane seats are actually designed for farting. Can you confirm or deny this?

Author's note: There is an air pressure factor at play here. But the topic is gross and I really don't feel like explaining it.

Four fewer teeth, no less the wiser

Hello everyone! Just a quick update from wisdom teeth recovery land... I'm doing great. My surgery went super smooth, I had no complications, I slept through the whole thing, remember nothing (only some moments where I said funny things because of the drugs) and then I came home.

Dave has been a great caretaker, but I think I made his job pretty easy (if I do say so myself). I took my codeine, ate yogurt, pudding, apple sauce, and even felt well enough to talk on the phone and help with dinner dishes!

I only have minor swelling and minor pain. I think I am even going to switch to ibuprofen today... we'll see how that goes. But, all in all, everything over here is going well!

I'm pleased to be going down in history as one of those people who had a pleasant wisdom teeth extraction experience, because I sure heard my fair share of horrific stories before my procedure.

What do you do when the power goes out?

Well, my boyfriend cleans the stove by the light of his trusty flashlight. I know, he's so romantic.

What did we do today?

We were the "official" photographers for our favorite animal rescue organization: The Sunshine Rescue Group. We fostered kittens for them last spring and adopted both Stuart and Emerson Grace from them.

They were having a holiday kitten adoption weekend and people could come in with their pets to take pictures with Santa. I might have a new career ahead of me! Getting puppies to pose is not so easy, ya know! Although at times, it was easier to get the pooches to look at the camera than it was to get Santa to look at the camera.

I'm actually glad it's December

Sometimes people dread it, this month of holiday madness, but I'm glad it's here. However... it's sooooooooooo cold! I know I shouldn't be complaining because it's so much crappier in other places right now, but still, it's cold.
