One of my new favorite eGadgets: Dopplr
I'm not sure I'm into these misspelled words with no vowels (like Flickr), but who am I to talk!? Right now my most favorite little online thingy is Dopplr. I have a little box here on my blog (in the right hand side bar), and one on facebook, that tells everyone where I am. I program it and it updates itself. It's nifty.

Why, why, why!?
Why did Sprinkles have to open across the street!? Now how am I going to fit into my wedding dress in less than 2 months with a place like this taunting me every day?

I will miss you E Pharm
Today I tried to go to one of my favorite stores, Elephant Pharmacy, and found out they are closing the Peninsula branch! So sad! I guess that is one more place to add to our "visit while in Berkeley" list.

Excitement for kitties!
Similar to tree-trimming-day, power washing day and repainting the balcony day are also exciting days at our house!

Quote of the day: Thursday
This quote touched me so much it warrants providing a little background, which as you know, I never do.
Dave was given the name and email address of a woman who had previously done an NSF sponsored postdoc in the Netherlands so that he could get in touch with her and ask some questions about the process of moving abroad. In her wonderfully helpful email reply she wrote this:
"We long for our days of rambling along the cobble stone streets with tulips in arms and our daughter on the back of our bike listening to the bells chime."
It makes my eyes well up with bittersweet tears. I am so excited to go to Amsterdam and already so sad that we will eventually have to leave.

A September day in San Francisco
My Dad and Dawn visited us this weekend. We explored Palo Alto on Friday and spent the day in San Francisco on Saturday. After showing them our wedding venue and filling up on Dim Sum we just had to take a ride on the cable car... of course.
Then we went over to Crissy Field and enjoyed some fog, views of the GG bridge, and the fresh San Francisco evening breeze. It was a bit chilly for some but the globes were pretty cool so we had to check them out.
Look, that's where we're going to live next year!
Our evening ended with an amazing vegetarian dinner at Greens.
