December travel debate resolved

So after a lot of pondering and meditating... and all of your helpful feedback, my lovely readers... I came to a decision. I was going to go to India, but separate from the group early and return to the states in time to go on my winter midwest trip.

However, once I started calling AirIndia and United and American and searching on Expedia and Travelocity... I realized that to fly along with the rest of our friends and family it would cost me about $3,000 for a ticket. If I wanted to save money and get an $1,800 ticket I would be flying alone the entire way there and back. A major part of this trip was going with the group and being a part of the whole thing. Traveling for 24 hours alone, arriving alone, separating from the group early and making my way around India alone... just to have another 20 hours of solitary traveling seemed to sort of miss the point.

It then became clear to me that there would be better ways to visit India. When I have more time to physically prepare and mentally prepare and go with the group and stay the whole time... and not feel like I've missed or ditched out on other important things back at home.

Good news: I'M GOING TO NORWAY!!! I will comfort myself and the fact that I cannot be with my best friend for this event by going to Norway and spending some quality time with her before she embarks on this journey. I think I will feel quite satisfied with a little jaunt to Scandinavia in my spontaneous moment of unemployment. :)

Therefore, the winner ended up being: Option 2
