ok people, i think i already know what i am going to do... but with the sudden advent of being unemployed a few opportunities have presented themselves. i will lay out my options here and want everyone to vote on which one they think i should do (not what you would do, people, this is me we're talking about) and i am also open to alternative suggestions that i haven't thought of.
as most of you know my bestest bestest friend got married in july. she happened to marry a norweigen which led her to leave the country and become the most adorable norweigen housewife you've ever imagined!!! hahaha... LOVE YA MONST!
anyways, her family had wanted to plan a traditional Indian wedding for her and her husband in India this December and a large group of friends and family would be going. i however got this wonderful job opportunity in August to work at the Academy of Art and therefore told everyone that i would not be able to take 2 weeks off in early December to leave the country for this grand event. lo and behold i no longer have a commitment to the Devil... i mean, the Academy... and i am free to join my best friend and her family in this adventure. here's the catch...
i had already come to terms with the fact i was not going, and planned my life accordingly. therefore, to decide at this last minute to go along with the group would mean to sacrifice other plans i have now made. here are my 3 main options... what are your thoughts (or alternative suggestions)?
Option 1: Go to India from December 8-21st. Miss Dave's birthday, miss potential interviewing for a new job/starting a new job time, and having to change or completely cancel my winter midwest trip to Chicago/Minneapolis from the 21-28th?
Option 2: Don't go to India from the 8-21st at all... go to Norway instead from Nov 30th-Dec 5th to visit Monica before she leaves for India. That way I would see my best friend but not miss Dave's birthday. I would also be more available for new job prospects and my winter midwest trip would be intact.
Option 3: Scratch the Norway idea, and go to India on the 8th but return early on the 18th. Have just enough days to rest in order to still go on my winter midwest trip, but still miss Dave's birthday, and still not be around to start a new job or interview for a new job.

Here are my thoughts... during the Holidays people are busy, there is vacaction, family, and snow to think about, that renders many offices short staffed and with out decision makers to make an impression on, so maybe December would be a wasted month for job searching rgardless of your location in the world.
option four: get that new job and work a while. then take time off to visit wherever.
