After a night of spicy Indian food and a drink or two at our neighborhood pub "The Old Spring", we woke up ready for a new adventure. We said goodbye to that old spring, which was much more springy than it looks like it would be, and we stopped along Tenison Road on our way to the train station to take a peek at the cute old house Dave used to live in when he spent a year in Cambridge.
We eventually ended up in Egham, UK where Royal Holloway University is. Time to rest up before a few good days of conferencing!

Punting on the river Cam
Yet another reason I am going to marry this man... he is an amazing punter! Seriously, he was really good at it, and I was simply really good at being a passenger. I am not even going to post the pictures of me giving it a try. It was embarrassing. :)
Above are all of the boats lined up. Below is Dave still not totally sure what he is about to get himself into. He hasn't punted for over 5 years!
The Mathematical Bridge. So fitting that we are going to pass under it.
There is my captain punter! He takes his job so seriously. Punting is hard stuff my friends.
There is me, the happy passenger. I could do this every day!

Day 2: Cambridge, UK
We started today off with a stroll over to Emmanuel College where Dave studied for a year after college before moving to Berkeley. Of course we had to visit the ducks.
After Emmanuel we wandered by some other colleges and found ourselves on Kings Parade.
Then we decided to head on over to The Backs to finally go punting!

Day 1: Cambridge, UK
After a long flight from SFO to Heathrow, a long ride on the London Underground (don't worry, we minded the gap), and then a long train ride north to Cambridge we finally arrived at our cute little B&B pictured here.
We walked around the city a little just to keep ourselves from falling asleep too early. We passed by the river where we will go punting tomorrow...
And, then we stopped into the Sainsbury's grocery store for some supplies. Of course I had to document some of my favorite strange British products like the cheesy hoops with potato and cauliflower, milk teeth and little teeth toothpaste, and the fairy liquid. Nice.

Getting our fix

It's too hot herrrrrre!
Right now in Palo Alto it's just too hot for me. On days like this I dream of being immersed in the San Francisco summer time fog.
Almost exactly three years ago when I was driving back to SF after a summer in SD I took these pictures.

Writing, writing and more writing
I don't have anything interesting to say today. I am just working on my final paper for my 2nd parent education class. It's quite exhausting that this class ends on Wednesday and my fall class starts on Thursday. I'm getting a headache just thinking about it!

It was "intensive"
I will admit it publicly (here on my blog, which I guess is not really public) that until today I said the phrase "for all intensive purposes." Dave caught it tonight and claimed that the phrase was actually "for all intents and purposes," so we looked it up.
The comprehensive list of common errors in English can eat away at many hours of your life. You've been warned... but it's pretty great.
