This is what Monica and I are going to be doing for a few days once I get to Norway. Perhaps I will blog from there, perhaps I will take a few days off to get lost in Trondheim.

pumpkin pie
This year I was on the dessert committee for Thanksgiving and therefore I bought most of the desserts. However, I made a pumpkin pie from scratch! No no, I didn't make the crust. C'mon people. Yes, Torrey's version of scratch... but I made the filling part nonetheless. And, believe it or not, it was actually good!

Word of the day - Quiescent
you normally wouldn't use this word when describing the days of the week that the pizza place is closed... but, hey, you could if you wanted to, right?
Go Vikings!
Touchdown Toby won the football pool this week. Some may call it beginner's luck, I call it.... ummmmm... what do I call it? Being psychic? No. Implementing NFL team strategy? No. Ok fine, beginner's luck.
How much money did I win again? I can't remember, $75 or something?

enjoy it while it lasts
i already have my first job interview on wednesday. i'd better enjoy this time off while i've got it!
Thanks Dad!
an interesting article forwarded to me by my Dad from the San Diego Union Tribune. as most of you know, i use the term "dooce" quite often and this article refers to it. i remember learning about it shortly after i started my blog. i make sure to teach my blogging friends about it and heed it's warning when i am posting on my blog.

When blogs bite back
Judgment, freedom of speech square off in the workplace battle over venting on the Web
By Steve Johnson

The stories they tell are almost always the same:
I was just doing it to amuse my friends.
I didn't really think about the consequences of everyone in the world being able to see it.
I was entranced by this new technology.
But that's after the fact, after their blogging has cost them a job, a relationship or, at minimum, a lot of time spent explaining what they wrote.
As the number of blogs – online journals or "Web logs" – piles up, so, too, do the cautionary tales.
Postings in the digital realm can have repercussions in the real one. Blogs can bite.
Collectively, the tales scream what award-winning blogger Heather Armstrong learned the hard way: "You can write about work, absolutely. Go ahead and vent. But you're taking your livelihood into your hands."
That's what Armstrong, a 30-year-old Salt Lake City mom whose blog is dooce.com, says now, three years after being fired from a lucrative Web-design job. In calling her boss, among other juicy tidbits, "Her Wretchedness" and "the most insane person you have ever witnessed outside of 'Dateline NBC,' " she started down a path that led to unemployment and a brave new word.
Thanks to Armstrong, the Urban Dictionary, an online collection of user-defined slang terms, lists: "Dooced: to lose one's job because of one's Web site. Dude, I heard Janey got dooced last week."
The news of late is filled with more doocings or near-doocings, more people who failed to heed Armstrong's online advice, "BE YE NOT SO STUPID."
In August, the Automobile Club of Southern California dooced 27 workers from one of its San Diego offices for posting messages on a popular social-networking Web site.
The association, an affiliate of AAA, fired the employees after at least one worker complained to management about feeling harassed by the comments, which were written by employees on their own time at home, auto-club spokeswoman Carol Thorp said.
She said comments were made about other workers' weight and sexual orientation.

December travel debate resolved
So after a lot of pondering and meditating... and all of your helpful feedback, my lovely readers... I came to a decision. I was going to go to India, but separate from the group early and return to the states in time to go on my winter midwest trip.
However, once I started calling AirIndia and United and American and searching on Expedia and Travelocity... I realized that to fly along with the rest of our friends and family it would cost me about $3,000 for a ticket. If I wanted to save money and get an $1,800 ticket I would be flying alone the entire way there and back. A major part of this trip was going with the group and being a part of the whole thing. Traveling for 24 hours alone, arriving alone, separating from the group early and making my way around India alone... just to have another 20 hours of solitary traveling seemed to sort of miss the point.
It then became clear to me that there would be better ways to visit India. When I have more time to physically prepare and mentally prepare and go with the group and stay the whole time... and not feel like I've missed or ditched out on other important things back at home.
Good news: I'M GOING TO NORWAY!!! I will comfort myself and the fact that I cannot be with my best friend for this event by going to Norway and spending some quality time with her before she embarks on this journey. I think I will feel quite satisfied with a little jaunt to Scandinavia in my spontaneous moment of unemployment. :)
Therefore, the winner ended up being: Option 2

requesting feedback
ok people, i think i already know what i am going to do... but with the sudden advent of being unemployed a few opportunities have presented themselves. i will lay out my options here and want everyone to vote on which one they think i should do (not what you would do, people, this is me we're talking about) and i am also open to alternative suggestions that i haven't thought of.
as most of you know my bestest bestest friend got married in july. she happened to marry a norweigen which led her to leave the country and become the most adorable norweigen housewife you've ever imagined!!! hahaha... LOVE YA MONST!
anyways, her family had wanted to plan a traditional Indian wedding for her and her husband in India this December and a large group of friends and family would be going. i however got this wonderful job opportunity in August to work at the Academy of Art and therefore told everyone that i would not be able to take 2 weeks off in early December to leave the country for this grand event. lo and behold i no longer have a commitment to the Devil... i mean, the Academy... and i am free to join my best friend and her family in this adventure. here's the catch...
i had already come to terms with the fact i was not going, and planned my life accordingly. therefore, to decide at this last minute to go along with the group would mean to sacrifice other plans i have now made. here are my 3 main options... what are your thoughts (or alternative suggestions)?
Option 1: Go to India from December 8-21st. Miss Dave's birthday, miss potential interviewing for a new job/starting a new job time, and having to change or completely cancel my winter midwest trip to Chicago/Minneapolis from the 21-28th?
Option 2: Don't go to India from the 8-21st at all... go to Norway instead from Nov 30th-Dec 5th to visit Monica before she leaves for India. That way I would see my best friend but not miss Dave's birthday. I would also be more available for new job prospects and my winter midwest trip would be intact.
Option 3: Scratch the Norway idea, and go to India on the 8th but return early on the 18th. Have just enough days to rest in order to still go on my winter midwest trip, but still miss Dave's birthday, and still not be around to start a new job or interview for a new job.

Conversation of the night - Wednesday
"why do you have a Dobie and a plate?"
"because i need to take them to school."
"why?"
"because i lost my Dobie and broke my plate."

2 weeks notice
I quit my job today.
The title of this posting is somewhat misleading, you see, I gave my 2 weeks notice but my boss wanted my resignation effective immediately. Therefore, I am home now... and finally my blog will get the attention is has been neglected of all of these months.
I am not going to write anymore about the story of me quitting... I wouldn't want to get dooced... but then again, if I've already quit I guess I can't get fired now can I? If you want details call or email me. I'm always happy to share, as you all know.

not too sick to eat a Pizookie!
Steph and I had a date to feast on a pizookie. We justified this warm melty cookie by eating fresh tomato bruschetta and a salad for dinner.
