Hormone Hostage
I'm not usually into these sorts of generalizations about women and pms, but this one is kind of funny. Enjoy! :)
--
The Hormone Hostage knows that there are days in the month when all a man has to do is open his mouth and he takes his very life into his own hands! This is a handy guide that should be as common as a driver's license in the wallet of every husband, boyfriend, or significant other!!
DANGEROUS: What's for dinner?
SAFER: Can I help you with dinner?
SAFEST: Where would you like to go for dinner?
ULTRASAFE: Here, have some chocolate.
DANGEROUS: Are you wearing that?
SAFER: Gee, you look good in brown.
SAFEST: WOW! Look at you!
ULTRASAFE: Here, have some chocolate.
DANGEROUS: What are you so worked up about?
SAFER: What did I do wrong?
SAFEST: Here's fifty dollars.
ULTRASAFE: Here, have some chocolate.
DANGEROUS: Should you be eating that?
SAFER: You know, there are a lot of apples left.
SAFEST: Can I get you a glass of wine with that?
ULTRASAFE: Here, have some chocolate.
DANGEROUS: What did you do all day?
SAFER: I hope you didn't overdo it today.
SAFEST: I've always loved you in that robe!
ULTRASAFE: Here, have some more chocolate.

acrobatic crabs
so i finally got around to getting some new friends for my hermit crab phoenix. there were some mixed opinions on this... some readers were adamant that i get a couple of little friends for phoenix, and others thought he has been murdering the new crabs and i should spare additional lives. ultimately these two little acrobats (named rusty and rocky) joined the tank. they immediately began climbing on things, hanging from the top of the cage, and sitting in the cookie dish to devour all of the cookies. too bad i don't have a "herm cam" so we can all watch them online.

Is he on the stretcher AND the yoga mat?
While doing yoga this morning my Dave did something to his back. He must have twisted funny or something and it seized up and he became unable to move. He is doing fine right now, but when the paramedics got to the gym at Berkeley they had to lift him on to the stretcher while still on his yoga mat. The doctors in the ER got quite a kick out of that.

i LOVE my cousins
as many of you know by now, or can tell from reading my blog regularly, i LOVE my cousins. i feel like am almost a "professional cousin" some days.
anyways, speaking of cousins, my cousin Zack who goes to college in Indiana writes for the university newspaper. i placed a link for him in my sidebar, but i wanted to put one here too. check out the stuff he writes!

Word of the day - spell it with zeros
my cousin Lily was in town last weekend and taught me some things. every once and a while i need to be updated on what the kids are saying these days... i need to remain a cool cousin/college counselor. :)
therefore, the word of the day is sw00t spelled with zeros instead of "o"'s like that. it's a combination of "woot" and "sweet". who knew? i like it. i am going to start using it to entertain my college students.

Car on FIRE!
don't worry, it wasn't my car... but someone's car was on fire last night right outside my apartment building. the pictures are a little blurry because i took them hanging out of my window in the pouring rain. we were shocked at seeing something burn so fiercely while water dumped down from the sky.

"made up" word of the night - Deliriating
derived from the word delirious, one may start deliriating late at night after excessive amounts of mathematical computations have occurred over an extended period of days.
for the Grey's Anatomy fans who read my blog...
when i was watching grey's recently i thought i recognized the new dark haired actress... i said, "mom, is that sara ramirez from high school?" sure enough, it is! ha! i know someone on the best show ever!!! :)
Congrats Sarah!
since i have a little dinner date with her tonight, i wanted to make a special post for my friend sarah. she got an awesome job at a place called creature comforts in alameda. anyone out there in the bay area need some pet care services? YAY SAIRY! :)

no, not that kind of pie!
but of course, how could it have slipped past me? today is march 14th or as otherwise notated 3.14 PI DAY!
thanks to Jess, i was reminded of this special day. and, after some internet searching i even found a website dedicated to suggesting songs one could sing to honor pi and it's 3.14-y-ness.
according to this article, "nerds" around the globe were actually preparing yesterday for this day of math fun. and, we wouldn't want to leave these guys out! :)

some of you wrote to me and knew what this thing was... for those of you still wondering, it's a Tony Little Gazelle. now i can exercise at home... no muni, no smelly gym, no heading out in the rain... it's all about getting my cardio fix at home in my pjs.

Meyeon visits!
In order to make sure Meyeon got to experience as much of SF as was possible in a day, Dave and I took her to North Beach for lunch, we drove through the Marina, stopped at the Golden Gate Bridge, hiked around Sea Cliff, hung out in West Portal, grabbed dinner in SOMA, rode on a cable car, and went out for drinks and dancing on Haight street. Yes, we slept until 12noon the next day. :)
Urban Iditarod
if you are reading this and wondering, "what does the word iditarod mean?" that's ok... so was i when i first heard the word. in san francisco, we love any reason to dress up in costumes, get drunk, and run through the streets. this weekend was the annual urban iditarod. we just happened to be in the right place at the right time to witness this craziness.

It's all about the PBHB
You may be wondering, what is PBHB? Or, where did Torrey find such an amazing sandwich like this!? Well, it's a Peanut Butter Honey Banana sandwich from Intermezzo in Berkeley. YUMMMMMMMM!
PS. Yes, I did get honey all over my face. Right Jenny?
PPS. No, it doesn't taste the same when you make it at home. We tried that.

the end of an era
i am blogging about something today that is near and dear to my heart. my cloudberry jam. we finished it this morning, and i was hit with the symbolism of how long it has been since i've seen my best friend. as one of dave's roommates exclaimed "she's a whole jam jar away" and she totally is. i missed my friend since the day i left norway, but now, with that little piece of norway that i had with me each day gone, i am truly feeling the time and distance.
can't wait until June Monster!!!! :)
