Fancy Sunday night dinner
Last night we decided to go out for a romantic dinner at Madera, a restaurant inside of a new resort not far from our apartment. The food was tasty AND there were great mountain views.

Time for a new look
My blog began in 2005 during my last semester of graduate school, before I met Dave. I love having this online diary and for many years have wanted to keep it's original look. I was inspired by some new blogger templates that Monica brought to my attention and so I spontaneously decided to give my old blog a new look. What do you think?

Not much new over here
Sorry I haven't posted anything this week really. It's been a pretty slow week. My spring break seemed to slip away from me and now I'm in the final 8 weeks of the semester. I've taken on a second class in addition to my student teaching placement and class, so I'll have a very busy April and early May until summer is here. Until then I'll try to find exciting things to blog about, but if it seems slow or mundane, that's why. I'm just hunkering down and pushing through the semester.

If Dave had been in charge of the cake...
This is what our wedding cake may have looked like!
This is a "cake" made out of cheese! And, not just any old cheese, but the famous Humboldt Fog cheese made by Cypress Grove. It is so famous that in addition to people sculpting wedding cakes out of it, it has its own wikipedia page. And of course it's super yummy.

Hanging with Noah and Malia in NYC
We spent a super fun day with Noah and Malia in New York. We explored Colombia's campus, ate falafel for lunch, went to the Natural History museum in the afternoon, and ended at Serendipity where I got to experience a Frozen Hot Chocolate! Yum.
A little taste of Amsterdam
One of our favorite places to eat in Amsterdam was Maoz, an amazing falafel place. We decided to hunt one down in New York so we could relive some happy Holland memories.

The fortune cookie said...
"Your fondest dream will come true within this year."
What do you think of that!? :) I love it.

We finally did it... officially changed our names
Yes, I said names, plural.
Today we went down to our local Social Security office and changed our names. I added Dave's last name as my middle name, and he added my former last name, which is now my second middle name, as his second middle name too. You follow? Ok.
We've been using these new names since we got married, but we hadn't actually officially changed them until today. We left for Amsterdam so soon after getting married that we didn't want to change things then and mess up our passports, visas, etc. We figured now though was as good of a time as any!
So, now we each have four names. That was our compromise. Name inflation, you think? Well, yes. But this way neither of us had to drop any of our given names, we each got to give each other a name to share, and we avoided the hyphen, which many people have strong feelings about. We're hoping that having two middle names doesn't cause a lot of grief. We'll keep you posted.
And yes, our kids will have two middle names (the second one being my previous last name) too. :)
