back in san francisco
so, on monday i woke up in my apartment in san diego. i puttered around, packed my bags, and then went to my Dad's house to hang out with him before i jetted out of town. i got to pick out his tie for his meeting!!! i loved it. it was definitely the highlight of my day. then, i drove over to Jon's and he took me to the airport.
my flight would have been totally fine if a creepy old man with stinky beer breath had not sat next to me. sheesh. i tried to ignore him, but it didn't stop him from trying to buy me a beer. when i declined politely he had to make a crack about how i probably wasn't old enough to have one anyways. when i told him that yes, in fact i was, he exclaimed "in what state!" ummmm... California sir. sheesh! what a creep.
Manal picked me up from the airport, took me to my Jetta which was at her house, and then i headed over the bay bridge back to my lovely san francisco. after i unpacked a friend came over. we watched the movie Garden State and decided not to sleep all night. i couldn't remember the last time i stayed awake and saw the sun rise. it must have been when i was in college. ahhhhh. fun.
barely any sleep and class don't mix. i don't recommend it to anyone. that's my advice for the day.

Happy Easter
In honor of the new episode tonight
Congratulations! You are Lynette Scavo, the
ex-career woman who traded the boardroom for
boredom, mixed with moments of sheer panic as
the mother of four unmanageable kids.

anyways, before getting up to LA yesterday i stopped in Oceanside to visit Spyder (Heather) and Eddie. they set there wedding date by the way for October 8th... YAY! i met them at some pizza place where they were eating and hanging out and we caught up on all of the exciting happenings of yours truly. bay area adventures can be fascinating you know.
friday night i cruised around with Tom and Adam. we went to OB to some random ass puppet show. i don't even know how to describe it, but for those of you who have memories (maybe foggy ones) of hanging out in someone's garage in OB, you can somewhat envision what it was like. after we had enough of that we went over to Beth and Jeff's house. Wyatt was there and Henry too. they had the cutest little mini doberman but he was sad because he just had his nuts cut off. poor little doggy... he was so confused. where did they go? was the look in his eyes. finally after some green tea, popcorn, and some 1am videogames i drove myself back to mission valley to crash.
hey, that wasn't so bad, right? the weekend backwards? i kinda liked it.

Cheese and Rennet
Introduction
Cheese is made by coagulating milk to give curds which are then separated from the liquid, whey, after which they can be processed and matured to produce a wide variety of cheeses. Milk is coagulated by the addition of rennet. The active ingredient of rennet is the enzyme, chymosin (also known as rennin). The usual source of rennet is the stomach of slaughtered newly-born calves. Vegetarian cheeses are manufactured using rennet from either fungal or bacterial sources. Advances in genetic engineering processes means they may now also be made using chymosin produced by genetically altered micro-organisms.

sorry i've lagged
now, why haven't i written you ask? on thursday night (st. patty's day) i went out... dinner, tea, a little neighborhood irish pub... i had a great night. was out until 3am actually! i woke up early the next day and my aunt Linny and i went to santa cruz to visit our lovely and adorable little Amy. the three of us took a 5 mile hike in the forest in the rain. it was super fun. then, after driving back to oakland late at night and passing out, i was up early again on saturday. this time it was to go meet Manal and catch a flight down to san diego.
yesterday was one of those long days where you are up so early, travel, and then have a busy day, and it actually feels like two days instead of one. but, overall it was a great time. i had lunch with my brother (Jon) and his roommate (Shawn), then went shopping with my step-sister (Misti), then hung out with my Dad for a while. later on at night i met back up with my bro and we went downtown on a "hookah supply" mission. FUN!
today should be a chill day with a big family dinner at the end of the night. i can't wait for the massive amount of tofu i plan to ingest tonight followed by Misti's banana birthday cake. can you think of anything better?

"community" college
have you ever seen someone get so mad at a USPS stamp vending machine that they kicked it until sirens were going off and lights were blinking on it? no? oh, what a shame!
today an older man wearing a backpack and leaning on a cane hobbled over to me innocently sitting at my info table. being an "outreach" person i reached out and said "hello, how are you?" he explained that he was doing well and was just waiting for the split pea soup to be ready in the cafeteria. i asked him if he thought they were making split pea because it was st. patrick's day. he wasn't sure about that, but then felt the need to tell me about how he unfortunately scheduled an acupuncture appointment tonight and he was going to have to come out of his appointment and see all of the celebrating drunks around.
ummmm... ok.
when he decided to saunter off, i said, "i hope you enjoy your acupuncture appointment tonight" and he replied, "and i hope it gets me off the morphine."
lovely.

sick all weekend
this saved my life
Overall, my weekend wasn't a total wash. I really enjoyed hanging out with my aunt Linny. We kinda needed eachother for company this weekend, so that was good. We had some random silly times (hence the quotes below) and it was so nice to have her there to take care of me. There is nothing worse than being alone when you're sick. Another good thing happened to me this weekend due to the fact that I was home and on the computer all day/night... more details about that later. And, I went to Manal's house this afternoon for a BBQ. It was a really nice way to end a beautiful sunny weekend in the Bay Area that could have been so much worse considering my health.

Monday
I haven't made a real posting in a while, so here goes. I had a pretty good weekend, nothing too crazy, but then again, you need to have a weekend like that every now and then. If they were all crazy.... well... you know. Anyways, my Mom was in town for business at the end of the week, so her, my aunt and I all met up on Friday night for dinner and a sleepover in Oakland. On Saturday I said "no thanks" to studying and us ladies went shopping at the Marina outlets instead. I got some cute Nine West shoes, YAY! Then my aunt and I went on a walk around Piedmont and grabbed some take-out before heading home for a night in with a movie.
On Sunday I studied so much it made up for doing nothing on Saturday. I think I hit the books from about 9am-1pm straight. I guess a midterm in your Law and Ethics class could do that to a person. Then I visited Manal in Albany. I administered the second part of a battery of testing I am putting her through. Can you imagine a cuter testing subject for your Counseling Assessment class? No, I didn't think so. After some delightful Indian food for dinner, I went back to pick up my aunt Linny. We had a date to head back in to the City together to catch that movie Hotel Rwanda at the little West Portal movie theater. Let me just say that I highly recommend this movie to everyone. It was very powerful and intense. It made me feel like I needed to do something to help all of the people around the world that everyone else is ignoring. Sheesh... where to start?

muni mice
i had a decent day. it got better as it went along. and, it was definitely better than yesterday... sheesh! (side note here: do i say sheesh a lot? i realized that i write sheesh a lot in my blog when i'm telling stories, but i don't think i actually ever say it. strange.) ok, anyways, i went downtown to a weird play with my aunt tonight. i like going to the theater, and i love hanging out with my aunt. so, while the show was entertaining, it wasn't a fabulous play, just alright.
i really really don't want to go to work tomorrow. i have to give presentations at city college and i'm just feeling resistant to it. darn. oh well, i'm just going to numbly go through the motions i guess.
what does it mean when you decide to go to the store to buy more socks because you don't want to have to deal with a load of laundry just for a clean pair of socks? oh yeah, it probably means that you left most of your socks in san diego. SHEESH!
